2025 Year In Review

What an exciting year! We are a small part of the good in the world, or at least trying to be, and we encourage you to try also.

  • We received a Community Cultural Participation Grant from the Multnomah County Cultural Coalition and the Oregon Cultural Trust
  • We received a Portland Arts Project Grant from RACC to support a phone and project at Street Roots
  • Three new public phones were installed in Portland, in front of Street Roots, on SE 58th, and on N Princeton St.
  • Two new public phones were installed in Seattle, at 48th Ave S and MLK Jr Ave S
  • We produced “The Old Town Crier”, which exhibits work by the Street Roots creative writing team, currently available from the Street Roots phone
  • “Speak To Assert Your Humanity”, an interactive exhibit, was shown at the Teardown conference

Usage for the year included:

  • Over 35,000 outgoing calls from a dialtone!
  • 825 calls to the incoming line
  • 503 selections of the most popular Church of Robotron sermon this year, “The Ninth Position”
  • 415 plays of the rotating Old Town Crier work
  • 312 joins to the voice conference, which limps along
  • 152 plays of Longmont Potion Castle
  • 133 calls for the current time
  • 96 plays of episode 8 of the Wildcard Line
  • 89 apologies to our apology service, our homage to Allen Bridge’s Apology Line
  • 65 calls to the Trimet Transit Tracker
  • 48 calls to the Druids of Sisyphus Gardens. Call the Druids!

Plus many calls from our directory to the Multnomah County mental health crisis hotline, Call to Safety, etc., which we will not enumerate. And we don’t track how many times they were called from the dialtone, but we are glad that those services and more are available from our phones.
